Activities

Academic and Co-curricular Activities

a) For better assimilation and understanding of stu a led subjects and to increase the capacity of the students to learn, departments organise debates, extempore, quiz, essay competitions.

b) Departments regularly organise students' seminars and guest lecture sessions.

c) Industry- Academic partnership has been established with some local Industries to expose the students to some real life experience. Students are taken to nearby factories for visit. Summer camps are also to be organised.

d) Educational tours are organised.

e) U.G.C. sponsored seminars and workshops involving eminent academicians, resource persons and experts, are held every year. These academic events serve as platforms of intellectuals exchange between resource persons and college faculty.

f) Regular publications of departmental Wall Magazines contribute to the development of writing skills of students in their subjects of study.

g) Maheshtala College Social and Educational Research Centre has been set up to encourage undergraduate research activities involving students and promote quality research. Pro-VC Academic of Calcutta Univeristy Prof. Suranjan Das is among other notable academicians like Prof. Pabitra Sarkar, Ex-VC R.B.U., Prof. Suipti Banerjee (CU), Prof. Hiranmoy Banerjee (JU) have agreed to be a part of the advisory board of this centre.

h) College has successfully organised 6 UGC sponsored seminars between 2011 and 2012. In the first phase of X plan period, 4 UGC sponsored state level seminars/ workshops have been organised.

i) Two UGC sponsored Minor Research Projects were completed during IX plan period. During X plan, 6 such Minor research proposals have already been approved by UGC. 3 projects completed & reports submited.

j) Indoor and Outdoor Game facilities are available in the college. A multigym facility , to be made available to students in near future out of equipments received from Department of Youth Welfare, Government of India.
